Our story
Inception (2018)
Hello, I'm Selai, a teacher, activist, and a firm believer in the power of education and empowerment. It was in 2018, during my time in Afghanistan, that I was deeply moved by the remarkable strength and potential of Afghan women. With a burning desire to create sustainable change in people's lives, I, along with my dedicated coordinators in Afghanistan, embarked on a mission to empower these resilient women.
Our history
Empowering Through Craft (2018-2022)
For four years, we toiled relentlessly, hand in hand with these incredible women. Together, we crafted beautiful bags, each one a testament to their determination and our shared hope. These creations journeyed to Switzerland, where they found homes with people who appreciated not just the bags but also the dreams they carried. Through these sales, we did more than provide an income; we sowed the seeds of pride and independence.
Official Recognition (2022)
In 2022, with Jonas standing beside us, we achieved official recognition in Switzerland. This milestone not only marked a significant step in our journey but also reinforced my commitment to my lifelong mission: to create sustainable changes in people's lives and empower women in Afghanistan.
Breaking Barriers (2023)
The challenges of 2023 introduced us to a new mission: breaking the education ban faced by Afghan women. I'm a teacher at heart, and I understand the transformative power of education. So, we launched an online English school, aiming to provide Afghan women with language skills, and more importantly, the key to unlock a world of opportunities.
Comic Project 2024
I first connected with Timothy Stiven (Flowers for the Future) in Qatar during an Alliance gathering. It was there we began discussing our shared vision for a comic project. Unexpectedly, he extended an invitation for me to join him in San Diego, where we would present the concept of Detective Sanazu on a panel at Comic-Con.
