Thrive with Afghan Women Support

Afghan Women Support offers international workshops 

We offer interactive talks and workshops for schools, universities and companies interested in global education, women's empowerment and the situation of women in Afghanistan.

 

Through Afghan Women Support, participants gain direct insights into the lives, challenges and aspirations of women and students in Afghanistan.

Schools

For schools we offer interactive workshops that introduce students to Afghan culture, storytelling and global awareness in an accessible and creative way.

A central element is our comic storytelling project, where students explore stories of Afghan women through the adventures of the young detective Sanazu.

Through storytelling, students gradually learn about Afghan history, culture and the lives of girls and women today.

Possible elements include:

  • Comic storytelling and creative workshops inspired by Afghan Women Support projects

  • Introduction to Afghan culture and everyday life

  • Dialogue with Afghan students and women connected to our programs

  • Reflection on global solidarity and education

In collaboration with schools we can also organize project weeks that may include:

  • Afghan cooking workshops

  • Cultural exchange and storytelling sessions

  • Dialogue with women and students in Afghanistan

These workshops encourage curiosity, empathy and global awareness.

School Workshop (90 minutes)

Topic: History, Agency & Comics

  1. Introduction to Afghanistan and Afghan Women Support

  2. Storytelling session inspired by the detective Sanazu comic project

  3. Discussion about women's education and agency

  4. Students prepare questions

  5. Dialogue with Afghan women or students connected to our programs

Optional additions:

  • Afghan cooking workshop

  • Cultural storytelling session

  • Creative comic drawing activity

 

Universities

For universities we offer more academic lectures and discussions focusing on global education, gender and postcolonial perspectives.

Topics may include:

  • Gender roles and women’s agency in Afghanistan

  • Global education and social justice

  • Colonial narratives and representation

  • Afghan history and Herstory

  • Feminist perspectives and storytelling

These sessions are particularly relevant for students in:

  • education

  • social sciences

  • gender studies

  • international relations

The format encourages critical dialogue and academic reflection. 

Literature & Philosophical Dialogue

Inspired by literature such as A Thousand Splendid Suns, we explore themes such as women's resilience, solidarity and the social realities of Afghan women.

These sessions invite students to reflect critically on representation, narratives and women's voices through philosophical discussion and dialogue

University Lecture & Dialogue (60–90 minutes)

Topic: Gender, Narratives & Global Education

  1. Introduction to Afghan history and gender dynamics

  2. Discussion of women’s agency and social change

  3. Reflection on narratives and representation

  4. Philosophical dialogue inspired by literature such as A Thousand Splendid Suns

  5. Q&A and open academic discussion

 

Companies 

We offer interactive impact sessions and volunteering opportunities for companies interested in global education and women's empowerment.

Our goal is to create mutual learning experiences between employees and women participating in Afghan Women Support programs.

Possible formats include:

  • Lunch & Learn sessions

  • Impact Talks (45–60 minutes)

  • Interactive Workshops (90 minutes)

  • Cultural exchange sessions

Companies can also explore volunteering opportunities, such as:

  • skills-based mentoring

  • knowledge exchange with Afghan students

  • short-term volunteering programs

These sessions provide employees with insights into grassroots education initiatives while fostering cross-cultural learning and collaboration.

Where possible, sessions can also include Afghan cultural experiences such as traditional food and storytelling, creating a holistic learning experience.
